I do not like having pdfs open in the browser. It is mostly the default now and I usually change it so a pdf will open in a pdf viewer. The latest Konqueror will now open Okular in a tab for viewing and working with pdfs, which is alright and a pretty slick use of installed applications and resources.

I use it mostly for reading PDFs online, such as tech manuals. I also use it mainly in Windows. In Linux I also prefer to use a PDF viewer.

I rarely ever need the latest features of software, especially browsers, so I stick with the ESR versions of Firefox. Firefox is a very good solid browser, my only complaint about Firefox is that it is a bit heavy. I do like a setup where the rendering engine is a shared resource built into the OS. It is one point where I think Microsoft and Apple have that whole system designed correctly. Gnome and KDE both have built in rendering engines (I think both build off webkit), which leads me to using either Epiphany, or Konqueror for day to day tasks.

Firefox I use like an application for specific tasks (finance, shopping, medical) where the application specific rendering engine leaves me feeling more secure. Although I am not sure that feeling more secure actually makes me more secure.

Its interesting as OpenMandriva updated to Firefox 115.01 but it changed all my settings in the process. Not specifically related to Firefox but nonetheless annoying.
