Postfix is included in the list, but the grand daddy of them all sendmail is not listed. Sendmail was included in many linux distros. Probably most commonly for server use. You could set the system up so that it could email you if trouble arose.
I thought it would be kind of nice to have my own email server, and the idea still seems pretty cool, but the whole getting my own domain along with the need to have something always on just felt like the benefits were out weighted by expense and hassle of setting it up. And I have always been pretty sure, my configuration skills would leave me with something just barely working and probably very insecure.

I remember Sendmail and was familiar with Postfix in passing.
