Happy Halloween

On Halloween in 1991 we got 48 inches of snow. So this morning wife and I put on our "We survived the Halloween Blizzard of 1991" sweatshirts. No blizzard is expected today, but it is snowing, with gusting winds.

I had always noted that the entire UK is further north than we are and thought it a bit odd that we generally have much nastier winter weather than the UK. This morning in an article talking about the length of days, it noted that the UK being further north than the entire continental US, has shorter day in winter than we do. I had never thought about. I have never minded the cold weather that much but by this time of the year the short days really start wearing on me. So if I moved to the UK, I could get warmer winters, but have to endure shorter days. Guess I will just have to stay where I am.

Well, for now anyway. If that fails we'll be experiencing somewhat different climate.

Well the big Halloween trick this year was the arrival of the time change. We are back to standard time. Most of our clocks were just never change. The clock on the thermostat, car, microwave, VCR and oven stay on standard time all year. Connected tech stuff of course updates itself automatically. The only clocks we change are the wind up alarm clock by the bed, and the mantel clock in the living room.

Of course being retired it is only once maybe twice a month when we have some pointless appointment that requires us to be aware of the time being used out in the greater world.

That's still my favorite part of AZ, we don't change time. So much nicer, IMO.
