Id use Chrome as its available with MX17 and it has the audio downloader prime and a mp3 converter I believe. I havent used them but my tech partner has and he said they work very well.

Given Chrome has specific extensions for various uses with Youtube that are optimized for it, probably worth looking at.

Dai,
I ended up trying XFburn...it's fairly straight forward, not really "tweak-able". It worked flawlessly.... So,..it's a problem with K3b and MX Linux. I should realize there's a reason they added it in their "media center". So, I ended up removing. K3b totally. No sense in having an unused program eating up drive space. I'm still getting used to MX Linux 17. Some things are still "alien" to me,since I spent the last 2 years using Q4OS.. I promised CC,and the forum a honest review on MX 17. Stay tuned.... ;)

I dont use K3b except with KDE based distros. XFburn and Brasero are very good and fewer issues and use less resources which is why MX17 uses XFburn.

Sorry i didnt see your other comments, but typically when a distro offers certain apps, its because they are either a better choice for that distro or more resource friendly with less dependencies.

Thats the benefit of having tried so many distros, as Ive seen many different designs and unfortunately few surprises these days. Ive never had one distro that Ive stuck to religiously, as Ive always been a distohopper and run many distros at the same time.

I signed up for the MX Forums and havent had any issues registering but I really dont post there to be honest. You can contact them by going to the mxlinux forum page then go to the bottom of the page and youll see contact us. Could be they were just having some server issues.

The two distros I use the most right now are MX17 and Ubuntu Mate 16.04.3 Redmond interface. Looking forward to the release of 18.04 in April.

I usually use the provided packages on any distro as they usually work better, mainly down to the fact that if it is included by default it will have gone through many more tests. No distro wants to have buggy software on their default installations. :)

I usually install Xfce when using plain Debian installs, I like the interface and it seems the most stable and configurable of the low resource desktops.

I'm sure you will enjoy using MX, although it seems more of a Devuan than a Debian distro to me. ;)

Just as a test I registered and received my activation code immediately (within seconds) and now have an activated account. Are you sure you entered everything (including anti spam measures) correctly? and make sure you enter no to the question asking are you a spam bot? :D

I had a friend register at their site last night and he had no problems at all.

Agree with Dai as i tend to stick to the included apps with most distros I use but of course adding certain apps like I prefer, usually email and browsers.

You had problems with this forum too, I would be guessing there is a problem with your email somewhere...
