Re: Vivaldi 2.0 is out
Same here as ive been playing with it on one of my other distros but the slow performance is a turn off.
Re: Vivaldi 2.0 is out
It is, although for my tastes I may be able to forgive it the performance for the additional screen real estate that it gives me over Waterfox, especially if it's able to work with a lot of sites Waterfox fails with (slack, netflix).

Re: Vivaldi 2.0 is out
I use a 20 inch standard monitor so real estate is important, which was one of the reasons I gave Vivaldi a look.
Re: Vivaldi 2.0 is out
It's taken a lot of work, but I am starting to like Vivaldi somewhat. It's not 100%, and gif's don't work correctly on Debian (they do on Ubuntu and Arch), but overall, I've gotten the performance improved to where it's no longer INSANELY noticeable from chromium to Vivaldi. However, on at least 1 laptop, my experimenting has messed up something and it's working weird and I'm not sure what i did. I have went ahead and replaced waterfox with Vivaldi on all systems however.

I havent had thatm much luck with Vivaldi, as its still too slow.
Re: Vivaldi 2.0 is out
I've spent a LOT of time in the settings trying to find things that can cause it to slow down!!

Re: Vivaldi 2.0 is out
I cant say ive spent a lot of time but I have played with the settings. Any browser that requires that level of tweaking Im not going to use.
Re: Vivaldi 2.0 is out
I really wanted a second browser (since chromium I use for work, Firefox is my "non-work" browser), so wanted to give it a fair shake to earn the spot over Waterfox. Waterfox certainly performs better, but Slack doesn't work with it, Netflix doesn't work with it, and a few other sites (due to it identifying as Firefox 56). Vivaldi doesn't work with gif's and requires massive surgery to get to perform near on-par with other browsers, but does work with Netflix, adds repos so it auto-updates, and gives more screen real estate. In the end, I think I'll take Netflix + real estate over fast out of the box...although if I could have fast & functional with auto-updates out of the box I certainly would!

I use some combination of Firefox, Chrome/Chromium, Opera, or Midori.
