That video is quite old as hes discussing Compiz for MX 16.1 but honestly havent seen much recently. It probably works but as to whether its current or not Im not sure for MX17.

KWin actually has a lot of the features seen in Compiz but not all.

KWin doesn't have the features I like; plus,from what I read before about it, it was designed to work with KDE Plasma Desk Top. With Compiz Fusion manager, I can select between XFCE and Compiz with a click of the mouse. Since I've been using MX Linux,with XFCE, I've starting liking it way more than KDE. Just a personal preference now..

I mentioned KWin because I use KDE but wasnt suggesting you switch. Im just the opposite as I like KDE more but also like XFCE.
