Back when I was first learning Arch linux and Gentoo (yeah, LONG time ago), I used to do this a lot. Now rarely do it, but I think I did change it on my Arch install because the default colors it decides to use when doing a search for packages was REALLY hard for me to read. Other than for that, I rarely do this anymore.

I have messed about with doing changes like this, but as I re-install more often than the average user I am quite used to using whatever the distro supplies as default and only change things that I find annoying/unmanageable.

Same here as I do a lot of installs but sometimes changing the color really helps my vision. Htop is another app where I end up changing the color to enhance my ability to read the numbers.

It would certainly make sense for you to make the changes, but as I have no actual reason to change I leave it to defaults.
