I only ever use translate when browsing and for that I have a Firefox plugin (Simple Translate) installed, which I assume uses Google services.

I use Google to search so I inevitably end up using Google translate when needed.

This is me as well.

To my knowledge Simple Translate does not rely on Google services but Mozilla warns that it isnt monitoring Simple Translate for security purposes so be aware.

I use Simple Translate on Firefox, but it is also available in the Chrome Web Store. It claims to collect no data from you. Of course that makes no sense at all since it would not be able to translate if it did not collect the contents of the web page you are visiting and it could not return the translation if it did not know where the request came from. Maybe they mean they do not store or keep anything they get, but they do not clearly say that.

More than likely they dont store data after translating but nowadays I would question that.
