Not much to add to the subject line really.
I know from the Debian Forum the phpBB recent updates have been causing odd problems.

I've seen the recent posts on the Debian Forum and it is one of the reasons I have not updated to the latest version of phpBB, this board still (at time of writing) runs version 3.3.8 and as such is a bit behind the curve, I was hoping not to see the effects reported in those posts, although it now appears we do.

I don't usually use remember me feature but will test it to see if I can find the same thing.

Could you let me know which browser you are using in case it makes a difference?

I have tried with Brave Browser and Firefox-esr (115.14.0esr-1~deb12u1) and neither are "remembering me". I also checked the Debian forum which does not suffer the same effect (both browsers), I will try to find out what setting I may have that is causing this but I don't think it is a phpBB bug.

Just using ESR same as you. The issue with the Debian forum has mostly been around the behaviour of the New Posts filter (recently). Is this some sort of session cookie issue?

I will look into session settings and see what I can find, thanks for the hint.

I can't see anything that sticks out although I have made a couple of small changes, I think it would be better for me to wait until I update the forum s/w to current before going too far down this rabbit hole though just in case it is a "bug" that has been fixed already.

I have changed a few settings for the forum which appears to me to have solved this issue, if this is not the case for any one please let me know.

I have never used the "remember me" function. Overall the forum update was very nicely executed. The USPS (post office) has been updating during this same time and it has been something of a train wreak. Perhaps you could offer them your services? I am looking forward to the main site "re-construction".
