The other morning I was reading my news feeds over breakfast and the BBC was reporting that schools in Wales were closed due to snow. (I have never sorted out how to just get the BBC world feed, so I get lots local UK news.) That morning it was about 10C here, sunny and a nice day. So the UK got snow before we did.
This morning we caught up. It is snowing out, not enough to create a winter wonderland, but the lawn, roof and car are covered in white. It is very near freezing and I doubt this will stick around for long. Snow, cold and general bad weather do not bother me much. This time of the year the short days are what depresses me. I am an early riser and I do not like the long span of the year where I am up before the sun.
So anyway congrats to the UK on beating us to the first snowfall.

Re: So much for the warm Atlantic Current
I had a thin blanket of snow around 10pm Monday, around an inch of it settled on the car and fields but the roads and pavements were pretty clear by morning so no effect on anything here, but it is pretty darn cold for sure!
The Met Office have issued a "yellow warning" for heavy snow this coming Saturday followed by a rapid thaw and subsequent rain Saturday night so we will have to wait and see what actually happens...
