Octo core and up to 16GB RAM, that's exactly the kind of Risc-V system I want. Now, if only I had another desk to hook it up to to play with it...
Looking at the world agent, if you want 16GB (who wouldn't), you need to make sure to choose the M1 version, not the K1 version.

Re: For the first time ever, AMD outsells Intel in the datacenter space
I actually have that installed on my desktop, that I boot to...every few months. Sadly, they don't have it avaiable for REAL OS's, although ryzenadj can do many of the same things, but is CLI only, and ryzen-controller had started to be developed to provide a gui for it (has been abandoned for years...

Re: Rocky Linux
Rocky and Alma Linux started out as the straight up RHEL recompiles to replace CentOS when Red Hat announced that CentOS was no longer going to be, and instead it would be CentOS stream (a upstream distro rather than freely available recompile). Rocky was founded by the same person that originally f...

Re: For the first time ever, AMD outsells Intel in the datacenter space
I did start on Intel, but switched to AMD reasonably quickly because I was poor and they were cheaper (Super socket 7 K6-II and K6-III). I also used a lot of early Celerons (still remember the Celeron 300A that some 90% would overclock to 450MHz without any issues, had that as my primary rig for qui...

For the first time ever, AMD outsells Intel in the datacenter space
Interesting article. Further pointing out all the headaches Intel is going through right now.

That's still my favorite part of AZ, we don't change time. So much nicer, IMO.
Re: PCLinuxOS
Cheese was my first choice, however Cheese is not in the PCLinuxOS repositories. PCLinuxOS also does not install sudo. They do include su which when used with my login password makes me root. That just feels wrong. Su should allow you to become root, but to get to root using an adminstrator passwor...
Re: PCLinuxOS
To my knowledge Trinity didn't come with webcam software, and everyone I know that runs it uses Cheese.

Re: The dying of the T580s
Just make sure if you use the Thunderbolt port for charging, that you have the Thunderbolt firmware updated. Firmware issue on these machines will cause the Thunderbolt port to stop working in and of itself if the Thunderbolt firmware is below something like v20.
Re: PCLinuxOS
I actually just tried the Trinity version of PCLOS a couple weeks ago. Sadly, the hardware I tried it on, my Crelander E160 (N5105, 16GB LPDDR4, 512GB m.2 SATA, Intel AC7260) it wouldn't boot to even ATTEMPT an installation. So the weirdest thing about PCLOS is that it uses rpm's like Red Hat/Fedora...
